Coffee in Yemen

Coffee beans were allegedly first exported from Ethiopia to Yemen, where Yemeni traders brought coffee back to their homeland and began to cultivate the beans. The first known coffee house was called Kiva Han, which opened in Istanbul, Turkey, somewhere around 1500. But, it was not an immediate hit! Some orthodox circles banned it due to its "racy stimulating effects."

Yemens fame

Yemen is the source of true Mocha coffee. Some connoisseurs consider the Yemeni beans the best that money can buy. No doubt about it, for one reason or another, it is know the world over. Grown along steep terraced hillsides at an altitude of anywhere from 3,000 to 7,000 feet, the harvested fruit is a small, hard coffee bean.

The name itself originates from the Yemeni port town on the Red Sea. From the varieties available Mocha Sanani and Mocha Mattari are considered the finest. Due to the harsh hot dry climate, the coffee beans are as unique as its distinct taste. No doubt about it, authentic Mocha coffee is a pleasure to drink.

Risks in Yemen

Due to the high levels of terrorist activity in Yemen, westerners are advised to steer clear of Yemen. If this is not possible, then all travellers are encouraged to stay vigilant and to keep a low profile to avoid attacks or kidnapping. The situation is so grave that the US Embassy often restricts American citizens from certain hotels, restaurants and shopping areas.

Aloe in Yemen

There are over 500 different species in the Aloe family. Each one is different in size and appearance going any where from as small is a half dollar coin to full sized trees.They are found all over the world, but are native to Africa Yemen and other countries in that region. The differences between the Aloes are actually very odd ones. Some of them can survive in cold weather; others die in cold or wet climate.

CONCLUSION

Frankincense grows as small trees or shrubs which are found in Southern Arabian countries like Yemen and Oman as well as in Northeast Africa ( Somalia). Its resin contain chemicals which is virtually identical to our own sexual secretion. The aroma from Frankincense stimulates the senses and heighten your senses. It enhances communication between the lovers.
