Looking at the fiberglass that is used to protect the trailer is essential, if there seems to be cracks, splits of holes in the sidewall this can pose a problem. If these areas have been exposed to ran this will weaken the side wall. You should also talk a look at the inside walls too. If you find them to be strained, they may also have been effect by water damage, in which case they will need fixing, you will have to decide if this is worth your while.

If the roof of the horse trailer is constructed of fiber glass you should also check this. You will be looking to see if the gel coating is worn out or not.You will also be see if it is about to be worn out, i.e. is it thinner in some places more than others. If the roof is made from another material you will have to look at its overall condition.
