Advantages and Disadvantages of Mobile Broadband
Mobile broadband is basically wireless access to the internet. Mobile internet is another term used to describe it. Mobile broadband is basically a small device that you connect to your computer to access the internet. Mobile dongles, mobile phones and data cards are the most common devices used for this purpose. 3G laptops are also growing quite rapidly in popularity. Mobile broadband is very popular amongst the masses because it enables others to be able to get online while they are on the move.
3G services are what mobile broadband uses. This technology in turn uses two others, which are called high speed upload packet access and high speed download packet access. This allows the end user to be able to upload and download at high speeds. All you have to do is connect the device to your laptop and you’re good to go.
There are many advantages of using it, these advantages can be seen below.
Advantages
You can get online while you are travelling on a train, bus etc.
You can connect to the internet while you are away on vacation.
These devices are very small, making them easy to carry around with you; you can keep them hidden away in your handbag or pocket.
It’s possible for you to get online in areas where internet access is nonexistent.
The dongle software comes preinstalled and is installed onto your computer system when installed.
There are quite a few disadvantages of using this device, these can be seen below.
Disadvantages
The speed of it isn’t as fast as other broadband connection types.
You don’t have a large assortment of providers to choose from.
It costs more to use than your standard wired broadband connection.
It comes with download limits and is unable to handle multiple download streams at once.
