Introduction to wine
You can start your own wine making right in your own home. Many people make wine in their basements. This practice has been around for many years and continues to grow today with the help of the Internet. Wine making is a hobby for wine enthusiasts who experiment with different types of wine making. If you want to make wine at home, you can buy a kit, or you can do all the work from scratch. All you really need are the bottles, recipe with ingredients and a dark room to store the wine as it ages and ferments.
Benefits of wine
It is commonly said that wine can be good for our health, but it is important to understand what the specifics are of these benefits in order for us to ensure that we make best of them. One example of this is that not many people are actually aware that this applies only to red wine and that only red wine offers these benefits, because of the certain flavnoids in the red wine that is not available in white wine. This however does not necessarily mean that white wine is completely unhealthy, rather it is the red wine benefits that we particularly look for when looking for benefits from wine.
Benefits of red wine
Being a particularly good source of antioxidants which cleanses the human system, red wine is indeed beneficial to the body. Other substances found in red wine include Resveratrol, which is a substance know to help increase the levels of HDL or good cholesterol, and various other antioxidant properties that assist in the prevention of blood clot and plaque formation with the arterial walls of the veins and arteries, as shown by medical studies.
Ice wine - have you heard of it?
Ice wine is a sweet dessert wine with a medium to full body. Those who have been fortunate enough to taste ice wine say that it has tropical overtones and bouquet. It also tends to have a slightly lower alcohol content than other table wines. The sweetness of the ice wine is balanced by higher acidic levels which keep it from being cloyingly sweet.
Ice wine can only be produced in specific weather conditions found in few places in the world. It is produced mainly in the Canadian Pacific Northwest and a few wineries in Germany. Because the process is so sensitive and difficult, ice wine is only made in small quantities.
CONCLUSION
It is good to know the types of red wines that are made so that you will be able to choose the one you like the most, which you would likely drink in order to make use of the red wine benefits and these include Cabaret, Pinot Noir, Merlot and some others. The red wine you buy does not have to be the expensive ones if your budget doesn't allow for it as there are a great many bottles of red wine for sale that are nominally priced which will give you options and not necessarily make your move to enjoying the red wine benefits an expensive undertaking. White wine is also nice but sticking to red is not a bad option!
