Uruguay

A booming technology economy and temperate climate brings people from all walks of life and around the world to Uruguay. Moving to this diverse part of South America grants easy access to other large, popular destinations such as Brazil and Argentina. Uruguay, the second smallest country in South America boasts diversity and freedom unheard of in other South American cities. With a plan in mind, moving to Uruguay can be a rewarding and adventuresome move.

Uruguay economic development

Uruguay used to have strict bank secrecy laws, liberal currency exchange and capital mobility regulations, and overall economic stability made it an offshore financial centre in times past.. In 2002, Uruguay banking scandals, along with massive withdrawals of Argentine deposits that occurred when the Argentine currency collapsed,

led to a near collapse of the Uruguayan banking system, significantly weakening Uruguay’s offshore role. In early August 2002, the IMF gave Uruguay a loan of $1,500,000,000 to overcome its problems, but the country still faced economic issues. The IMF has since approved more loans to Uruguay. The IMF is not a big fan of anonymous corporations and bank secrecy.

Uruguay winning the world cup

Uruguay won the Tournament. Again it won the Gold Medal in the year 1928 with another South American Team, Argentina which took the Silver Medal. FIFA decided to stage its own International Tournament in the year 1928. Uruguay who were the two-time official Football World Champions and who were celebrating their Centenary of independence in 1930 became the host country for the Tournament held that year which was decided by FIFA.

Uruguays impact on fashion

After Uruguay’s Luisel Ramos died in August 2006, during Uruguay's Fashion Week, many fashion capitals rethought the type of image they were giving to many women worldwide. Luisel was an 18-year-old model set to star in the Uruguay Fashion Week, but died of heart failure during the show after starving herself.
