Timberland introduction

Everyone has heard of Timberland, but did you ever stop to think of the far reaching influence Timberland has had on the clothes and shoe market. It is surprisingly far reaching. Since they were first set up in the USA in 1975 there search for a customer base that wants quality has deservedly made them a big selling brand. And they continue to sell well.

There is no doubt that Doc Martins are the world's number one casual boot. But they do have competition and Timberland is one of the biggest. Timberland provides boots that look smart and strong with any kind of clothes, while at the same time being affordable.

Timberland boot types

Unlike traditional leather boots that most in the industry make, Timberland makes boots in suede material for people who like extra-strong and durable boots that can withstand any condition. If your into leather boots, Timberland has those as well. Timberlands leather boots are made from the strongest leather and provide excellent durability. They are also soft and hard in all the right spots to ensure maximum comfort for the wearer.

Timberland expansion

In the 1980's, Timberland expanded into an international lifestyle brand. It's first venture into the international market was in Italy where it was first launched under Sidney Swartz' reign and leadership.

Then, Timberland clothing and women's footwear were introduced. In 1989, Timberland aided in bringing young people from diverse backgrounds together by being the founding sponsor of the Boston-based "urban Peace Corps" City Year for a year of full time community service. A year later, bold ideas like the Path of Service program began entitling Timberland employees to 40 hours of paid time-off to serve in their communities.

CONCLUSION

In 1918, Nathan Swartz, began a boot-making career as an apprentice stitcher at The Abington Shoe Company in Massachusetts. The story of Swartz is a classic. He started at the lowest rung on the ladder, learned his trade and through hard work and determination, he eventually became the owner of the company. Swartz and his sons continued to make shoes and boots for many manufacturers, and in the 1960?s they produced the first truly waterproof boots. The innovation came by fusing soles to leather uppers without stitching.
