Introduction to silver
You can wear silver with any garment and it makes your personality look more stunning and attractive. This is now the hottest thing in the market, which is quite ubiquitous now. Right from buttons to studs, mens silver jewellery has broader its boundary and now this has taken many folds. Gone are the days when it was believed that it is only meant for woman but now men are also using this beautiful piece of metal. The best thing about silver jewellery is that it can be moulded in any shape and size and it's very affordable.
Silver wedding rings
Silver wedding rings are really popular in the world we live in today. Along with gold and white gold, silver tops the list of most popular precious metals used to make wedding rings all across the globe. But, where did the wedding ring originate? And what is the meaning behind this precious metal that holds the key to so many hearts? By tradition, the brides ring was silver while, and the grooms' would be gold.
But, today almost any type of metal may be used for the wedding ring of both the groom and the bride. Silver wedding rings are traditionally placed on the left hand and on the ring finger. The reason for this placement on the hand goes back many years as far as medieval times.
Identifying silver
If you do decide that the lower price is worth the risk, make sure that the silver you buy is sterling silver. You can tell this from the markings on the silver: sterling silver will nearly always have the mark of '925', signifying that this silver is of the highest quality. There is only one grade of sterling silver: it is either sterling silver or it is not.
CONCLUSION
One big drawback with sterling silver is that it tarnishes easily. If you watch historical dramas on TV you will remember that one of the parlourmaid's jobs was to clean the silver cutlery. This was an almost daily chore, and while it may not be a daily job for you, it is still a job which needs to be done on a regular basis. Use a retail silver polish: there are many available on the market, or your local jeweller will certainly have one.
