Shotguns

Shotguns come in many shapes and varieties. Some shotguns are made for hunting purposes and some are made for tactical uses. There are shotguns intended for the purpose of hunting. Shotguns come in many different actions and gauges.

The 12 gauge is king of the hunting world. It can do most anything that a hunter calls on it to do. The 12's big brother is the 10 gauge. This gauge is used mainly for high flying geese and ducks. Turkey hunters also use this gauge because of it's superior knockdown power.

Airsoft shotguns

Some of the most popular airsoft shotguns are the old pump action style (which are spring powered) and these have the advantage of allowing you to fire bbs in rapid succession. The vast majority of airsoft shotguns are spring powered and tend to be the tactical style - used by the police and military although you can get many other styles and models.

Popular duck shotgun

The most popular duck hunting gun is the Remington 870 Pump Shotgun. The reason why this gun is so popular among hunting enthusiasts all over the world is because its ability to withstand some of the most harsh weather conditions. This weapon is considered to be the workhorse of the shotguns compartment.

About shotguns

Many people think that shotguns have shot that spreads, to send out a wall of lead, and that you can't miss with a shotgun. That is BULL.. The longest distance most of us will be able to shoot in defense, inside our homes, is about 20 feet. At that distance the size of the circle of shot from a shotgun is about two and a half inches in diameter or less.

It's easy to miss with a shotgun, but not as easy as it is to miss with a pistol. Some people want to get all sorts of specialty ammo for a shotgun to use in home defense. That is not needed. The cheapest "bird shot" is the best for home defense and the least likely to go through wall after wall after wall through your house and into the sleeping rooms of the rest of your family and the neighbors up and down the street.

CONCLUSION

In the world of shotgun sports sporting clays has grown exponentially. It is a great game that has been likened to playing golf with a shotgun. Many hunters like it because it is similar to the shooting conditions and aspects of hunting. Most sporting clays shooters use a 12 gauge in this game. When it comes to costs it is quite a bit more expensive. Part of this is due to the fact that most sporting clay courses field 100 targets which is same as shooting 4 rounds of skeet or trap.
