Sharing Your Photos over the Net
As the speed of the internet increases and more and more people begin sharing their favourite images over the net, many people are opting to have their own online album that has all their photos in it. There are a number of benefits to doing this. It gives you a viable place for you to store your images, without you have to worry about losing the data, and it enables others to view your images and comment under them – whether they are random visitors, friends and family members.
Flickr is currently the most popular photo sharing site, which Yahoo now owns. Flickr was one of the first photo-sharing sites in order to classify imagery instead of the usual categories. With tags, it enables you to create your own categories, and have as many as you deem fit and attach them to every one of your photos. The website is totally free for your to access, which can be attributed to the fact that the site has been around for some time now, Flickr online community is very active, so it’s not uncommon to see at least two comments under every image, with the most popular images, those that have relieved the most comments, being given their own showcase page.
Yahoo also used Flickr to improve their own Yahoo Photo service, which they have migrated over to the same interface that Flickr runs on. Yahoo’s own photo service isn’t half as complex as Flickr, and it’s also better integrated into other Yahoo services such as email.
Snapfish is another photo-sharing website that is held in high regard, this site differs somewhat from Flickr in that it’s more focussed on allowing the end user to make prints, put your photos on calendars, mugs, posters, T-shirts and less community oriented.
