High Speed Satellite Internet Connectivity
Satellite internet is currently the latest addition to high speed internet connectivity. Satellite internet entails connecting to the internet at high speeds via a satellite that is orbiting the planet. Data signals are exchanged between the ISP source, host computer and satellite.
There are two main types of satellite internet services: two-way and one-way. In a one-way satellite setup, you can download data at very high speeds, but uploading is carried out by a regular modem. With your two-way satellite service you are able to uploading and download information. Though uploading through a satellite tends to take a considerable length of time, for this reason it’s advisable that you don’t use it for applications that require quick synchronisation of data.
In order for you to use this service, you will need to have a satellite dish installed at the location of the user. Though it may cost quite a penny, this mode of internet access is widely used in areas where terrestrial access to the internet is limited. The main advantages of using a satellite to access the internet include: one’s ability to access the internet from almost anywhere, it’s also very fast, with two-way connections speeds, with no access limits, and you can purchase it in a number of packages to suit your requirements.
Satellite internet connections are also very reliable. There are only a small number of connection drop incidences while access or processing data via the internet. Although satellite internet connectivity is fast, it isn’t as fast as DSL or cable modem connections, because of the distance that the data must travel. There is also a cap of how fast satellite internet can be, while services such as cable and DSL are able to attain much faster speeds.
However, without the requirement for cables or wires, this technology is very popular amongst those who live in rural settings or sea vessels.
