Broadband Satellite Internet Connections
Broadband satellite has been able to successfully create an avenue for subscribers who do not live in areas with coverage a means to access the internet at high speeds. Most people prefer to use either a DSL or cable connection to get online. But in areas where high speed broadband is not accessible or where it’s felt that dialup is too slow, satellite broadband becomes an excellent alternative. This technology has been around for some time now, but of recent it has evolved into something more viable.
This connection type does not use any wires, but it does require satellite installation. Internet is access through the installation of a special satellite modem which is linked to a satellite dish that is professionally installed on the roof of your home. Data is then sent or received through the dish to an orbiting satellite, which in turn is sent and received from the internet service provider’s office. The speed of this connection type is slightly slower than that of a cable or DSL line. This may be an issue for some, when using it for certain applications, like online gaming.
However, it should have minimum affect on your surfing experience. It’s possible for you to overcome a lot of these issues by using a signal amplifier, which will cater to climatic or external disturbances and a signal locator, which will speed up the upload and download rate. Other issues surrounding satellite broadband include the costs for having the satellite dish installed and the monthly subscriptions, which can be somewhat more expensive than a DSL or cable connection.
Because the satellite dish is installed outside of your house, it is liable to damages, which may be caused by climatic conditions, such as intensive winds and rain.
