Introduction to Prozac

In the late eighties and early-nineties, Prozac was pronounced as the new wonder drug, a magical cure for depression that was patronized by millions of people worldwide. Prozac was later discredited when murmurs spread that it could spur suicidal tendencies in regular users. These days, Prozac is making a big comeback in the most unlikely of places.

Too often, today's busy and distracted pet owner blames their dog's misbehavior on a "nervous condition," hyperactivity, or just plain naughtiness. They pay for expensive dog obedience classes. They consult with pet psychologists. They hand out Doggy Prozac like it was candy. And if all else fails and their dogs are still wreaking havoc at home, they commit the horrendous. They drop their poor pets off at the pound, hoping that "someone else" will be better able to handle them.

Prozac concerns

Serious or fatal reactions have occurred when this particular drug has been combined with other prescription medications, such as Parnate or Nardil (MAOIs). Reactions have even occurred when Prozac antidepressant medication has been discontinued and a MAOI started. An overdose of the antidepressant Prozac can be fatal. This medication should be taken with care.

CONCLUSION

Prozac is an antidepressant and is prescribed more than any other antidepressant. It's prescribed for panic disorder, depression OCD as well as other conditions. Prozac works by making more serotonin available for the brain. It's thought that serotonin plays a major part in depression and panic attacks, so if it's not working properly, these problems can arise.

Panic disorder and anxiety responds well to treatment. Prozac has worked very well for patients in providing them with much relief from their ailments, so that they can function normally and happily.
