Proofreading can be a difficult profession. But if you are the type of person who enjoys reading other people's work and correcting, and making sure that it makes sense then proofreading may be for you. It will be your job as a proofreader to make sure that the documents that you read makes sense and words are spelt correctly.
If you enjoy correcting other peoples work, then you will probably be the perfect proofreader. It will be your job to look out for all the different spellings in a document. You also need to look out for words which have been spelt wrong intentionally.

Dont ashamed to use a spellchecker
It is never a bad idea to use a spellchecker once you have finished reading through a document. It is astonishing, how there are so many proofreader's reading documents that don't take advantage of the modern-day spellchecker. A spellchecker is a great device, as it can be used to doublecheck the document very quickly. Obviously, you will only be able to use a spellchecker if the document you are checking is in text format.
Checking your documents more than once
Double checking your documents in a great way to improve the accuracy of your proofreading. Even after you have used a spellchecker, you can still check the document again. It is not impossible for a spellchecker to get words wrong as they are human edited devices.
