Proofreading is a good profession to get into if you enjoy reading documents and checking through them for mistakes. A job as a proofreader will will require you to read through documents, maybe more than once even as much as three times. You will be checking for the technical accuracy of sentencing and any basic spelling errors within the document. As a proofreader you need to be methodical and technical. There are a number of jobs within this area available, it is up to you to apply if you want one.

You will need to consider if you things if you want to do the best proofreading job possible.

Allocating time to read a document

Continuously reading over the same document over and over again, can cause you to become bored and less alert, which is not good when it comes to correcting mistakes. The more tidy are the more difficult it will be for you to spot any errors in a document. Depending on how long a document is, you should work up how much time it would take you to get through it. For very long documents it may take you as much as a week to finish reading.

Keeping yourself fresh and alert

As you probably already know, the best work is done when we are fresh and alert. The more tidy get the harder it becomes to do anything. The same principle applies when proofreading, the more tidy become the more likely you are to miss errors in a document. Make sure to give yourself ample amount of time to refresh yourself when reading.
