A job at a proofreader can be very fulfilling, especially if you are the type of person that likes to read. Being a proofreader involves more than just correcting errors in a document, you also have to read through it, to make sure that it makes sense. There is a lot of technical expertise required to be a proofreader, you need to have a good understanding of some instruction and awareness, about when to use your discretion. In some documents you read you will find that there are intentional misspellings.

To be one of the best proofreader's, it goes without saying, that you have to read. Reading more will give you an unconscious advantage in your knowledge about words, their meanings and how they spell. Doing extra research into areas such as editing, and writing will help you consciously read more efficiently, which will in turn improves your proofreading skills. All of this extra reading will give you a more observant eye.

Taking the necessary breaks when proofreading

It is always good to refresh your mind and take breaks when necessary, for the most part give you my fresh and alert will be on responsibility. You may want to read one page then go for a walk around the room, then read another page. The way that you choose to rest your brain is up to you. Always remember that a proofreader that is tired is a less efficient proofreader.
