Planning productivity

One of the more difficult aspects of developing a competency based training program for improving productivity is to determine what should go into the program. Without a structured approach decided upon ahead of time, an effective productivity program will be impossible.

Identifying productivity

Productivity benchmarks are as diverse as any performance and productivity metrics. The different benchmarks need to be customized to the goals of the company or organization that will be using them. Identifying the proper benchmark for you and your company will help in determining how to improve company productivity and performance. No matter what type, shape or form a benchmark may take. One thing is important to remember, no two companies in different markets have the same type of productivity benchmark.

Productivity myth

The strong belief system in our country that a penny saved is a penny earned probably keeps a lot of individuals, small business owners, solo professionals, entrepreneurs and even C-Level executives from taking action to improve business productivity or even personal productivity. If I do not spend it, I save it. Before we can talk about the cost, a few ideas need to be discussed.

First, the paradigm that business productivity improvement is a cost needs to be changed. Is not the goal better results? Then, should not productivity or performance improvement always be an investment?

CONCLUSION

The biggest barrier to productivity is not a lack of time like most think. When you dig deep down to the core of the problem, a lack of productivity comes from a lack of integrity. Most people will say one thing and then do another. When you're not integral to your word you create more work for yourself and that leads to a lack of productivity.
