Buying a Photocopier

Buying a photocopier isn't a cheap business and so make sure you do your homework before allowing a salesman anywhere near your office. A photocopier is a piece of equipment which seems insignificant, until it breaks down, so make sure you spend the time to find the one capable of carrying out the jobs your business needs it to do.

Choosing a photocopier

These days, because digital technology means even an entry-level copier is capable of operating as a printer when hooked up to a PC or network, it pays to consider ease of use and convenience for your particular office environment.

One huge advantage of a digital copier is that it can be linked to a standalone PC, or more usually, added to your office computer network. Your photocopier then becomes a high-speed printer, which can be upgraded to produce sorted and/or stapled sets of prints without having to get up from your desk. Not only that, but with the right additional components, your photocopiers can also act as a fax and high-speed scanner, too.

Clean touch pad photocopier

Having a clean touch pad on the photocopier is extremely important as the response time is invariably delayed if the touch pad or the touch screen is dirty. The best way of cleaning a touch pad on the photocopier is using isopropyl alcohol. Use a 50% solution. Take a little bit of the solution on a damp cloth and gently clean the touch pad or the touch screen. Do not push the cloth hard against the photocopier screen as it might damage it.

Photocopier History

A patent attorney called Chester Carlson invented a process called electro photography in October 1937 which was then renamed to Xerography in 1938. The "10-22-38 Astoria" was the first known photocopy. The Xerography copying processes become one of the most well known inventions of the 20th century. Carlson became wealthy from the invention and created a new billion dollar industry and received world acclaim. It is estimated that Carlson gave away almost $100 million of his earnings to charity and foundations before his death in 1968.

CONCLUSION

Today, Xerox continues to be one of the world’s leaders in the photocopier market along with Sharp and Konica Minolta. Recently, photocopier machines provide more than just copy. They can now print, fax, scan and even send out emails.
