Should You Purchase a Domain?

When domains were first created in the mid 90's they were expensive so people didn't buy them. Today, it would be strange not to get a domain if you have an online business or business in generally. Some companies have more than one domain and some people have hundreds of domains.

It is very easy to get your hands a on a domain now. The length of the application is not as long as it used to be in the past. Now it’s as easy as picking one buying and directing it at the server that you want use for it.

When you eventually pick a domain name it should be something short and catchy. A name that is long and hard to remember is not going to be very memorable to your visitors.

If you have a domain such as yoursite.com, a good rule is to also get yoursite.org and yoursite.net as well. This will stop others getting your customers if your website is for international purposes it is certainly worth getting all the extensions so that you are covered.

The domain that you buy will have to be hosted so make sure you are aware of this. For this reason you should buy from a company that makes the process of pointing your domain easiest.

You can even find domain services that will do the whole point process for you. Finding a good credible company is especially important if you are not a techy type of person, for minimum fuss.
