Memory card introduction

The SD Memory Card or Secure Digital was introduced in 2001 by SanDisk Corporation, Matsushita (Panasonic) and Toshiba. The SD Memory Card was based on the MultiMediaCard, MMC, memory card standard and has almost the same form factor, the size of a postage stamp, the only differences are that the SD memory card is slightly thicker and has a write protection switch. Since MMC cards are thinner than SD Memory Cards they can be used in all SD Memory Card slots but not vice versa.

Camera memory cards

Digital cameras have significantly decreased the need for film, though it has not thoroughly eliminated it because there are still those photographers who prefer the feel of film compared to the digital. Nonetheless, the advent of the digital age also paved the way for the rise of the memory cards.

Memory cards are in a way replacing the camera film. It works by storing the images taken with the use of the digital camera. The content of these memory cards can then be downloaded on to computers or to photo printing machines.

Computer memory card

The computer memory card is useful device of the computer that broadens its capacity and makes it more efficient. The computer memory card comes with different storage capacities. To add memory to your computer is a very simple task that can be done in a very few minutes.

Before you are about to add memory, find out whether your personal computer has the capacity to add more or not, and what type is required.

Two types of flash memory card readers

1. The internal type is box-shaped and built into the computer case. It is commonly found in the newer computer models. For owners of older computer models, the gadget can also be bought separately at good computer accessories stores and installed manually.

2. The external type on the other hand is housed in a separate box. It connects to the computer through a USB port or any other peripheral port. It functions like an adapter, accommodating several cards to be read while occupying only one port on the computer.

CONCLUSION

Flash memory card is aimed at photographers who want a performance card that supports rapid-fire shooting and full motion video. You need a memory card with a lot of memory, unless you want to watch tiny little videos that might just fit onto the PSP's default 32Mb memory card. Videos are big files and they take up a lot of space; 32Mb doesn't go far. Go for half a gigabyte at least.
