What is Management?

Management is different from leadership but just as important. To understand the nature of management, we need to be clear how it differs from leadership. The first step in answering the question: “What is management?” is to understand the basic tasks of all organizations. Like any other species, an organization needs to take care of its immediate business of survival but it also has to evolve to ensure its fitness to cope with changes in the environment and the actions of competing species.

Time Management

In the postmodern and connected life we “manage” our time. While world religions can’t agree whether time is linear, circular or stops altogether at one point, it seems to be a rather pretentious endeavor to establish rules for time management.

Also for the faithless time remains an enigma and sometimes difficult to bear. The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once said that intelligence is the capability to be alone, and we might as well say - the capability to be alone when time passes by.

Content management system

A website builder is software that enables a person with no computer programming knowledge and no website design skills to be able to create a website with a look and content tailored just for that person. The heart of any website builder is a content management system, or CMS. As a software engineer, I know about the technical details of developing content management systems.

As the author of numerous computer books, including several books in a series aimed at computer novices, I know about describing technical information to non-technical people. In this article I'll skip the programming aspects of a CMS and instead provide you with some basic end-user information about content management systems.

CONCLUSION

For organisations to move away from this needlessly bureaucratic project management obstacle course, they must first trust their project managers and make them fully accountable for the project outcome. The project manager must use his discretion, deciding on a project by project basis, what is and isn't appropriate from any methodology they use.
