Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth, who dreadfully influenced and manipulated Macbeth for the worst is also another key factor in Macbeth’s downgrade. After Lady Macbeth read Macbeth’s letter about his fortune that was foretold by the 3 witches, she conducted a deadly plan to kill King Duncan and persuaded Macbeth into following her plan so that Macbeth will become King. Macbeth fell seduced into Lady Macbeth’s plan because of his ambition to become King.
A modern Macbeth
This story has all the classic characters that’ll you recognize from the classic tragic play. The role of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth being played by a couple of fast-food workers married and unhappy with their positions in life. You can’t forget Banquo, now played by a slightly dim-witted coworker of the Macbeth’s.
There’s Duncan, the owner of the fast food establishment, MacDuff, played masterfully by Christopher Walken, modernized up as an out of state cop come to investigate the first murder and a trio of auspiciously airheaded hippies as the classic troupe that invades and infects Macbeth’s mind. All together, this modernized cast is dropped into a small town in Pennsylvania, know as Scotland, PA. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Morissete spared no expense in getting all the names right. The best part of all though is the way in which he is able to keep the entire thing comedic along the way. Not a simple plan in such a blood stained play.
Macbeth Plot
In William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the play’s central character Macbeth displays the atrocities created by greed, one of the play’s many themes. The play Macbeth, illustrates to the reader how greed for power and wealth can destroy oneself and everyone in his treacherous path.
Macbeth shows this as he is not happy being a high ranking thane. He assassinates Duncan to become king, but not before he kills the innocent and dooms himself. Macbeth proves the argument that giving someone a small amount of power just leaves them grasping for more. Throughout the play many examples are evident of Macbeth’s lust for power.
Macbeth on telly
Macbeth (Orson Welles) – The first of the many epic productions, Orson Welles’ version of Macbeth is a dark, brooding version, done on an extremely low budget and with the wonderful overacting of Orson Welles. Over accentuated and nearly expressionistic in set design, the story here is told with the thick and fake accents of Scotland leading to its critical and commercial flop. However the story is well told and for those that can understand and follow Welles and troupe, the characterization is as strong as any other adaptation around.
CONCLUSION
Every one of Shakespeare’s greatest works, Macbeth has found a long and productive life in celluloid. The themes of the bards plays work in almost any genre, in any decade of any generation, and will continue to find their home on stage, in film, literature, and beyond.
