The method of lock picking involves opening the door lock with a locking tool kit. A basic kit contains a screwdriver or other types of tension wrench and a lock pin, which is a long and thin piece of metal that is curved at one end. In cases of emergencies, a hairpin may substitute for the lock pin. A professional kit, on the other hand, contains several types of tension wrenches in varying in sizes and shapes and lock pins with different dimensions. It may also contain a pick gun which is an instrument that vibrates and push several lock pins at the same time.

A mortise lock’s main advantage is that it’s near impossible to be forced away from the door, so unless you’re dealing with a highly skilled lock picking burglar a mortise lock is a showstopper for them. They come with different lock levers and if you want one that’s also hard to pick, you should go for a mortise lock that has a minimum of 5-6 lock levers. Some of the most advanced mortise locks use cylinder locks which are virtually impossible to pick.

There are a number of lock picking kits on the market ranging in price form relatively cheap to quite expensive. You can get ones that are best for building locks and other ones for car locks. The need will determine which set you will ultimately purchase. Do your research and know what you are getting.
