Liberia

The Republic of Liberia was on of the more stable African countries until a massive civil war. For extreme travelers, the war is over and Liberia is back on the map. Here’s a look at where the country has been and where it is going.

Liberia means the land of the free. It is a fitting name considering the country was established by freed slaves from the United States in 1820. Referred to as Americo-Liberians, the freed slaves established Monrovia which is named after U.S. President James Madison.

Liberia Airport

From Liberia airport you can be at the beach in as little as 20 minutes. Playa del Coco (the closest) is an old fishing village, that provides one of the best locations from which to enjoy a spot of diving or fishing on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. A little further away (about 45 minutes) is the Papagayo Peninsula, renowned for its beauty and the pleasure of having the largest area of all inclusive hotels in Costa Rica.

This area is earmarked for a huge investment injection mostly from foreign investors who are seeing big development prospects here. Heading south you will find the famous beach of Tamarindo, just a hour and a half from Liberia. When you compare this to the 4 hour trip from San Jose, you can see the benefits especially for those whose time is short.

Liberia has been such a disastrous mess in recent decades that it would be amazing to find anything that still operated in the country, let alone casinos. However, that undervalues the resourcefulness of the Liberians themselves for Liberia's casinos in fact amount to two.

Liberia, officially the Republic of Liberia, is a country on the west coast of Africa, bordered by Sierra lone ,Guinea, and the Atlantic ocean. Liberia has a hot equatorial climate with most rainfall arriving in summer with harsh harmattan winds in the dry season.

Liberia's populated Pepper Coast is comprised of mostly mangrove forests while the sparse inland is forested, later opening to a plateau of drier grasslands. Since 1989, Liberia has been in a state of flux witnessing two civil wars, the First liberian civil war (1989-1996), and the Second liberian civil war (1999–2003), displacing hundreds of thousands of people and decimating the country's economy.

CONCLUSION
