Become a Accountant and Bookkeeping Clerk
Accountant and bookkeeping clerks have the responsibility of updating and maintaining company financial records. Their actual day to day tasks may vary depending on the size and nature of the organisation that they are working for. There are some bookkeeping clerks, especially those who are employed at small firms, who are responsible carrying out all the record keeping for the company’s account. The specific tasks that they would be expected to do may include posting credits and debits, preparing reports for the management team, producing financial statements, making purchases and handling the payroll. The largest organisations usually have an entire accounting department with accountants work there. Although the activities of an accountant are fairly similar to that of a bookkeeper, the accountant usually carries out tasks that are more specialised and this is usually reflected in their job title.
Certification, Licensing, Education
A high school degree is the minimal educational requirement for to be admitted into this field, however, there are a few businesses that may require you to have at least an associate’s degree in accounting or business. For those who are interested in those higher level positions in the financial industry, they may want to think about earning a bachelor’s degree, and beginning their career as an accounting or bookkeeping clerk, with the objective of eventually moving up. The vast majority of accounting and bookkeeping clerks will receive some training before they are actually hired, the training will usually consist of some kind of specialised training such as learning a specific computer program that they are required to use.
