Ice skating benefits
From stepping onto the ice and hanging onto the sideboards, trying in vain to stand straight on those two slippery blades .. to gliding effortlessly across that ice with no thought of anything but the delicious feel of it .. ice skating just naturally offers character building challenges and grace along with tremendous confidence building.
Ice skating builds character from that first step onto the ice. The desire to stand on those blades doesn't allow even the thought of defeat to enter the mind. That ice will be conquered ... and with the first shaky hands-free ride around the ice .. confidence is built.
Hockey ice skating
Make sure you get your child’s hockey ice skates sharpened by a person who cares about the blade. I could not figure out why my son started to cry while skating and was falling down. When we took off his skates I discovered his blades were uneven. The last fellow who sharpened his skates cut the blade diagonally so he was uneven when skating. No wonder he was having so much difficulty.
We later found a person at a local skate shop that fixed the blades and now we take the hockey skates to him after every 6-7 hours of skating. Huge difference as my son is now considered one of the best skaters in his league. Do you think it is only because of the comfort and the sharpening of the blades? Well - it was a start as he stopped crying and continually smiled on the ice that allowed him to have fun and skate longer.
Ice skating popularity
Ice skating is a sport that is both loved and hated by its practitioners. For some the entire sport is ice skating, for others the actual act of skating on ice is simply one aspect of a very complex and multifaceted activity. And others are simply content to skate. In and of itself ice skating provides a significant challenge for those just learning and becomes second nature to those who have been doing it for long periods of time.
CONCLUSION
Locals and visitors alike enjoy skating on various ponds, rivers, lakes, and artificial outdoor rinks. Skating spots include Forty Mile Creek, Johnston Lake, Two Jack Lake, Lake Louise. However, it is very important to inquire with locals about the current conditions for skating on any of these spots before venturing out yourself.
