Many health issues such as heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, aneurysm and failure of the heart are the result of hypertension which is a chronic medical condition. The most popular way of controlling hypertension is by making changes to the way you live. For those who currently suffer from hypertension, a combination of lifestyle change and medication may be all that is need to curtail this condition.
There are so many anti-hypertension drugs that are available for a physician to choose from when a patient is diagnosed with high blood pressure. Studies have shown that these medications do in fact lower ones blood pressure by up to 5 mmHg and also help to reduce the chances of a stroke by up to 30%. The chances of contracted coronary artery disease can also be reduced with medication, along with cardiovascular disease and dementia by up to 30%.
You may also be required to make changes to your life along with the medication that you’re prescribed. In other cases, you may not need the medication anymore after making suitable changes to your way of living. For the vast majority of people, they will be given medication along with new changes to their lifestyle, until noticeable improvements are made. But more and more sufferers out there are looking into new methods of controlling their condition.
In some cases, making a little change to your diet may not have much of an impact on your overall health. Reducing the amount of salt that you intake will likely witness noticeable improvements. Do not stuff eating all the foods that you like, just be more conscious about what you choose to eat and eat in moderation. Make sure you drink a lot of water in order remain hydrated.
