Quinoa Health Benefits For Diabetes and Hypertension

Most of us are already familiar with the quinoa health benefits that exist in our diet like nutritional value and protein content, but we rarely consider what this food can do for those who are diabetic or suffer from hypertension. Yes, you read correctly, quinoa makes an excellent addition to your current diet even if you are a diabetic or are suffering from some form of hypertension.

Quinoa that has not been cooked has much less calories in it but more magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, tryptophan and iron. If the idea of serving it in variation worries you, then you need not worry because it is a very versatile source of food. You can have it for lunch, for breakfast and also for supper and it will work well with whatever else you are eating at that current time.

One health benefit of quinoa that is pivotal is its ability to be able to relax the blood vessels. How is this possible? As was stated earlier, it has a lot of magnesium in it, and those who are familiar with hypertension, know that low levels of magnesium can lead to it, along with heart arrhythmias and ischemic heart disease. Studies have shown that a single serving of quinoa in the morning is all that is required to reduce the risk of your heart failing.

Quinoa also has a lot of phytonutrients inside it which is largely unrecognised because of all the research methods that are used, all of which have a tendency to over look this reality.

So what are the benefits of eating quinoa for those who are diabetic? Quinoa has a lot of magnesium in it, which is a co-factor for the enzymes in the body, more than 300 to be exact; these enzymes play a role in the utilisation of insulin and glucose secretion.
