There are some things that you will have to do when buying a trailer, if your horse trailer is going to be used. If you are buying a new trailer then you wont have to look out for so much, but it will cost you a considerable amount more. The first thing to look out for is the condition of the farmers house property who you are buying the horse trailer from. If the barn, fences and pastures are in a bad way, the chances are that the horse trailer is likely to follow suit. A trailer that hasn't been used for a while is likely to be rotting and rusting, so you should watch out for this too.

Here are some technical things to look out for

You should make sure that trhe coupler on the trailet is in good condition. The coupler attaches the trailer to tyhe actual truck. You will need to test it to see if when it is hook to a truck that is stays hooked. Hooking to it a few times, should give you the overall picture, as to whether it is in good condition

The trailer ramps come in different shapes and sizes. The old style ones have a door, and the horse has to step into it, but newer models have a ramp that will fold down. Which ever model you get, you should ensure that the hinges on it are in good order
