Reasons to Change Your Accountant

The vast majority of people will choose an accountant and stick with that person through their life or the life of their business. Although anybody can understand why someone would opt to do that, given the nature of man, in the long run, it may not be the most productive thing.

I have put together a number of reasons why you should think about getting a new accountant. Although not all of the reason highlight may not related to your current situation, I encourage you to give the reasons that related to you the necessary thought.

Reasons to change accountant:

1. Your accountant fails to explain his or her ideas to you. Instead your accountant will play the role of the expert, expecting you to be satisfied with that arrangement.

2. Your accountant is quick to tell you “no”, rather than taking the time to give your thoughts some time to marinate. Your accountant doesn’t even come up with his or her own ideas to help you achieve your goals.

3. Your accountant doesn’t pay attention to what you have to say when you talk about your short term and long term plans.

4. Your accountant believes that he or she is an expert on every subject, even on those that have absolutely nothing to do with finance. Consequently, your accountant speaks without any prior knowledge or experience of what he or she is talking about.

5. You talk to your meet up with your accountant no more than once every year, which provides you with very little time to create any sort of bond.
