Introduction to hockey
Hockey began to form clearer roots throughout England in the sixteen and seventeen hundreds.
The sport that we are more familiar with today began to form at Eton University in England when they actually began to formulate rules around 1860. Then the first Hockey Assoc. in the history of hockey was formed in 1875 which clarified more rules.
Hockey development
The international appeal of hockey grew tremendously due to the Olympic Games. It was first played at the Games in 1924 and only allowed male teams. Canada was a safe bet to win the gold medal as they won the first six out of seven golds. From the mid fifties to the eighties the Soviet Union dominated. Although the US won its first gold medal in hockey history in1960 it was the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” where our college amateur team went on to beat the heavily favored Russians that spurred a growth in Americas appetite for hockey.
Hockey equipment
Hockey equipment includes all the gear and other equipment one needs to be ready for a match. This includes the hockey stick or pads, suitable shoes, jerseys and jackets, and socks to be worn inside the shoes. A sport that has been loved for over ten decades has seen many changes and today the players sport the best Hockey equipment and there are the latest technology which is used in the game as well.
Amongst the best hockey equipment, the ones that have a CSA certification and where the helmets are made with good quality plastic shells are the best and ideal. And if the gear or helmet is damaged, they should be instantly replace the same.
Hockey visors
A hockey visor or shield is a piece of equipment that is fastened to the front of a hockey helmet to decrease the chances of injury occurring to the face of a ice hockey player... or referee. Depending on the model, a hockey visor may cover the upper half of the face or provide full-face protection. While there are many hockey players in the NHL that protest making hockey visors a mandatory requirement (including a host of veteran superstars), the AHL has already made it a rule amongst their players.
CONCLUSION
The Oakley Hockey Visor also goes beyond the ANSI Z87.1 standard for impact resistance: players can take comfort and pleasure in the knowledge that they are wearing shatterproof protection each time they soar across the ice.
Maybe we Americans don't prefer hockey because of its foreign origins and the lack of a basic understanding of the rules. Whatever it may be, I think that hockey deserves more respect and credit than the sports gives it.
