Government Grant Used For High Speed Internet
It has been rather difficult for broadband and satellite internet providers to connect everyone in the country to other nations, especially those who live out in the countryside with high speed connections. There are a number of hiccups that can be identified in the project. In the 2009 budget, the government provided a grant of $7.2 billion which went towards the global connection through high speed internet connectivity.
Those who live outside in the rural areas have almost no access to the internet and if they do, it’s usually very slow speeds. In many other parts of the county, there are cities and states where VoIP, T1 lines and fibre optic connections are terms that are commonly known by many. People in city areas are able to connect to the internet at speeds as high as 25 Mbps.
At the same time, there are towns and cities were people are completely oblivious to how internet operates. Some towns are only able to connect to the internet through dialup which is very slow with frequent disconnects due to limitations in the cables and connection. This is a major issue.
The objective of this grant, issued by federal officials, was that the sale in high speed internet connectivity may increase all over the country. The last decade we witnessed the rapid rise of the cell phone. Today you will notice that many people access the internet though their cell phones, since many cell phone companies offer GPRS connections for browsing the internet.
Today you will notices that the vast majority of internet service providers offer something between 512 Kbps to 25 Mbps. In some cities where there are DSL and cable connections, the browsing speed may be quite slow. However, for those who are able to access the internet at speeds of 1.5 Mbps and higher, it is a definitely must have.
