Broadband Choices and High Speed Internet

For most of us, the internet has become an integral part of our lives. With the ability to stream videos, music and movies, it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere, anytime soon. However, with all the new multimedia that you are now able to access online, the amount of bandwidth required to take advantage of them is growing quite rapidly.

Today, using a dial up connection to access the internet is no longer feasible, not even to view web pages, let alone stream any media content. Most of us started out using a dialup connection to access the internet, so we all remember the sounds that it made while connecting to the internet; well I’m happy to say that those days are well past us.

When it comes to high speed internet connections, you have many choices to choose from. Broadband is the term used to describe it today. To simplify things, broadband is a method of transmitting large amounts of data in a more efficient way than what is attainable on a telephone line, like your dialup connection. The options that you have for a broadband connection include satellite, cable, and T1 and DSL internet.

The most common broadband choices that you will find in the home today are DSL and cable. These two types of connections are pretty similar; however, you will find that people have their preferences and opinions. Both sides will proclaim that their connection type is faster than the other.

T1 is the internet connection type that is most commonly used in offices for businesses. The reason this connection type is used for businesses is because the connection speeds are more reliable and consistent.

Satellite internet is one of the latest methods of connecting to the internet. This type of connection is specifically designed for those who live in more rural settings and are unable to access the internet through the more common methods.
