Switching To Broadband Internet
The internet is forever growing in size. It’s growing at an astonishing rate while experiencing just as much change in the process. Today, you will find that companies offer internet access to the general public in a number of different ways; Wi-Fi, dialup, broadband, just to name a few. In this article I intend to talk about broadband and whether or not it’s worth switching from a narrowband dialup connection to broadband.
Is it worth the trouble, switching to a broadband connection? As in most cases, it depends greatly on your situation. Dialup connection is very cheap, dirt cheap if I’m being honest. That’s the advantage it has, but you shouldn’t expect to surf the internet and breaking speeds. If you’re more interested in speed, then broadband is definitely what you want to invest your money in.
Going back to the original question, what should you use as a determining factor, when it comes to picking between broadband and narrowband? What I try to do is ask myself, what exactly I like to use the internet for. Personally I think a good way of looking at it is to tell you that questions are answers.
If you intend to do the following things online:
Check and send out emails
Chatting via instant messaging
Surf text based web pages
Then you would be wasting your money by switching to broadband. The vast majority of people use the internet only to check and send emails and to chat to friends. For those individuals, dialup should do just fine.
If you would like to use the internet for:
Watching video streams
Downloading music and movies
Playing games online
Chatting via voice and video
Which are the things I like to do, I play a lot of games online, visit every kind of website and download videos and music. So broadband becomes an integral part of my internet experience.
To round things up, the internet is slowly positioning itself as the way of the future. Very easy access to services and information, but switching over to a broadband connection is solely up to you.
