Broadband is Better than Dialup Internet

Broadband is a term that is used to describe high speed internet connectivity, which most people use to get online today. In the past, people would use a dialup internet connection to get online, which would occupy their line during the process.

With a dialup connection, when you wanted to access the internet, you had to use the main telephone line in your home. Because of the limitations in internet technology back then, internet data transfer and a phone conversation were something that couldn’t happen at the same time. So it was possible for you to surf the net, or talk on the phone, but it wasn’t possible for you to do either at the same time. This made getting online a rather difficult experience, especially for those who wanted to access the internet from home.

When it comes to a broadband line, you either have a high speed internet connection, that has its own dedicated line, like a cable connection, or a high speed internet connection which shares your telephone line, allowing the transmission of both voice and data at the same time, as is the case with a DSL line. DSL connections require you to use a filter, which will keep the noise levels down, so that the voice side doesn’t affect the internet transfer rate.

The vast majority of people, who are still using a dialup connection, are now switching over to a broadband line as soon as it becomes available in their area. Many of them have already had the pleasure of using a broadband connection, and thus, concluded that a dialup connection is too slow. If you use a broadband line while at work, then have to come home to a slow dialup connection, the whole experience can be quite annoying.
