The Rise of Cosmetic Surgery in Modern Society
In today’s society, it’s not uncommon for an individual to spend thousands of pounds on a cosmetic procedure. Can this be attributed to the many images that people might have seen of a completed cosmetic procedure, or could it be because the society we live in today seems to be so focused on looking and staying young. Maybe it’s just all propaganda to fool people into spending money on procedures they don’t really need.
The real answer is that it’s a little of everything, it seems that it’s become somewhat difficult to avoiding the subject with the amount of famous women discussing which aspect of their body they are interested in enhancing, with society so focussed on the way people looking, with a greater emphasis on staying young.
The (BAAPS) British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon stated that the plastic surgeons that were a member of this organisation carried out an increase of 12% more procedures for the past year, which equals to some 32,000 more procedures when put in real numbers.
Augmentation of the breasts witnessed the highest increase of all other cosmetic surgical procedures and was up by 6% for that year. This was a procedure (breast augmentation) that people commonly asked for along with a facelift.
This rapid increase in the amount of people who now partake in the many cosmetic surgery procedures has also managed to convince people to go on plastic surgery holidays. These holidays entail individuals going on holiday and having the procedure performed while they stay at the holiday resort. This has left a lot of highly qualified professional cosmetic surgeons very worried, because the standards of these types of holiday packages are fairly low, leaving the patient with a possible botched job is very likely, which can’t be rectified without further surgery.
