Introduction to fridges
The first artificial refrigerator was built by William Cullen at the Glasgow University in the middle of the 1700s. It used the vapor compression refrigeration process (invented by Michael Faraday). In 1805, Oliver Evans introduced the first fridge to use vapor in place of liquid.
A long period of small advancement in the field passed; in 1850-51 Dr.John Gorrie demonstrated the first ice maker and about 5 years after that James Harrison invented the vapor compression refrigeration intended to be used by the meat industries. In 1902 Willis Haviland Carrier invented the first air conditioning system.
History of the fridge
The impact of the fridge on the post-war diet is not often looked at, but it has been huge. Fresh food like fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products can be stored for days or even weeks without spoiling, meaning that these things can be sold in shops more easily and eaten more often. Before, it would have been necessary to grow fresh produce in your garden, restricting you to foods that grew in your country and that were in season, but as refrigeration can be used during transport in refrigerated lorries and ships, fruit and vegetables from all over the world can now reach us without spoiling.
A fridge for the family
If you are holding a big family and you are concerned about a fridge that will more than serve it then you should definitely keep a close eye on the Sears Kenmore Elite. It has 2 large, horizontal doors that will make it easy even for kids to get what they want. The freezer contains a vertical sector that is useful for stashing pizzas and the bright lights of the fridge will help you find whatever you are looking for.
What to consider when buying a fridge
The first thing you should do when purchasing a fridge is measure the space that you intend the fridge to go in. Its simple, there is no use looking for a fridge if you’re not sure how big the space is that it needs to fit in. Basically if you are moving into a new place you should ask for measurements or access to take measurements before you start looking.
CONCLUSION
Apart from all the above technologies, you should keep a close eye on the capacity of the fridge. Do the shelves serve your storing purposes well? Will they be adequate to store everything that you are used to keeping inside your fridge? After you have thought about those important features you can then consider about jumping to the more fancy features such as trendy design or a built in television.
