There is a recent rise of adware, called site adware. It is part of the winisoft group. It seeks to trick you into believing your computer has a problem and at the same time, stealing you credit card details.

Site adware affects many computers. It is for the most part a well created virus that can access your computer using Trojans, through a backdoor. When it has achieved this it can change your back ground and homepage.

Indications of site adware:

* If your computer takes its time loading, speed is reduced, or internet browsing is staggered
* Desktop has icons you didn't put there
* You get pop unders and pop-ups and warning massages in the task bar
* You notice registry and system errors

If these problems plague your computer it may be infected. You have to take steps to fix it.

Deleting this adware manually is possible by going to the registry files found in LOCAL_HKEY_USER folder. You will need to search for strangely named files that are bigger than usual in size and delete them. If you are not advanced in computers you should leave this to the professionals.

The easiest way for a beginner to get rid of adware from their computer is to use a good scanner or virus program. They will usually have good customer care if you get stuck and will protect your computer incase this ever happens again.
