Driving in the UK

Driving theory tests were introduced in the Uk in 1996. You must take, and pass, the DSA Theory Test (Driving Standards Agency) before you can apply for, and take, your practical driving test. The driver theory test became harder in recent years as, in addition to the multiple choice part of the test, you are now also tested on hazard perception (since November 2002) and both parts need to be passed at the same time. Also, since the 1st September 2007, the pass mark for the multiple choice has been raised to 44 out of 50 questions (30/35).

Truck Driving

One of the main questions people considering a career as a truck driver has is "How am I going to pay for truck driving school?" Driving schools that offer 4 week courses charge on average $4,000 for tuition. This covers the school's cost to pay for instructors, insurance, trucks, fuel, rent and advertising. There are other costs the students must pay that go toward driver training and obtaining a CDL; these include: driving permits, licenses, copies of your motor vehicle record, DOT physicals and drug screens.

Driving Laws Alert

In 2008 six states have new driving laws going into effect that relate specifically to minors,cell-phone use and text messaging by drivers. Some of the new laws are secondary enforcement laws that will not be enforced unless the driver is violating a primary law such as speeding, reckless driving or running a red light. All of the new laws listed below provide exceptions for emergencies, reporting illegal activity and use by public safety officials.

Choosing a good driving school

Driving schools really vary in price. But the phrase "You get what you pay for" has never been more true. Bad schools normally save on costs by cutting corners. They may carry multiple passengers, use older or less safe vehicles, spend less on training of instructors, or even cut lessons short.

Good schools will work with you and your parents to be sure you get the most out of every minute of every lesson.Just ask around, and be sure you choose a driving school with a good reputation for quality and value...not just low prices. Is this really the time for "cutting corners?"

CONCLUSION

Unless you live, work, and shop in a fully functioning metropolitan area, driving is most likely an everyday necessity. Millions of American's take to the road for everything from work to leisure out of convince. Buses aren't always reliable, taxis can be expensive, and walking isn't always feasible. With the convenience of the car comes danger as well. Car crashes are prevalent, and while some are sheer accidents, many can be prevented with a few simple precautions and a little bit of knowledge of the part of drivers.
