Introduction to Distance learning

At one point distance learning was not so recognised, the only learning that was consider of quality was a traditional degreee. Other forms of learning such as distance learning community college or state funded university was considered not as good. Distance learning has been available for a long time, although in the past distanc learning was not seen as conventional, so had a stigma attached to it. Distance learning became a more acceptable way of taking a college coursework in the 1980s, even though sometimes, such completion coursework was not accepted at universities, and recognized to a basic standard. Fortunately now distance learning programs are seen as a normal thing, there are more and more people taking them, many millions are now taking advantage of this flexible alternative.

History of distance learning

In the past distance learning did not offer very much subjects it was targeted at secretarial, medical support and technical subjects. In todays changing times, it is more than possible to get distance learning that can lead to an Associate or Bachelor's degree through distance learning courses, and even Master's degrees as well. The days of inferior distance learning is now gone. nowadays more nurses, business professionals and teachers are graduating from distance learning degree programs, because they have become so popular.

Advantages of distance learning

There are obvious advantages to distance learning, for instance you do no have the mandatory task of attending a classroom, distance learning can be studied more or less on your own clock, There are a vast number of distance learning course that will allow you as much time as you need to complete assignments. Distance learning is the best and most conveneint method of learning for those people thats are too busy, especially with work or family resposibilities. This prohibits them from attending a class room. There is also the problem that many course work requirements will not offer evening or weekend classes, so distance learning is very advantageous.

Problems that distance learning may have

It is sometimes still said that a distance learning education isn't worth as valued as a degree taken in a traditional college or university, but this no longer true. The authority of the distance learning or online school that attend only has to be accredited by a viable educational program, once this criteria is qualifiied a distance learning education has the same value as a traditional one, from havard! It should be understood though, that getting distance learning degree is not always as easy as it seems, in some cases distance learning is more difficult because of its independant nature, and there is no access to a classroom teacher. It is person taking the distance learning course responsibility to read and understand assignments and study guides inorder to complete their class requirements. Teacher help is available for most distance learning, but questions will not be answered immediately. The form of asking questions is likely to be email so this can take some time.

When choosing a distance learning course take a look at the many packages on the internet there are many to choose from. You should look for a distance learning course that you will be able to fit around your shedule. Some distance learning course may turn out the same as traditional learning, you should always ask questions. You should find out how much time you have to finish assignments, this way you will not find you self rushed for time while doing distance learning, good luck!
