Demons today
In this day and age, when you mention demons or demon possession, most folks laugh or joke about it. Do these same folks laugh and joke about the Holy Bible? To laugh and joke about the belief of demons and demon possession, is the same as laughing and joking about the Holy Bible and the word of God. If you are a true Christian and you believe in the Holy Bible as being the divinely inspired word of God, then you should have no doubts about the existence of demons and demon possession.
Demons explianed
A demon is considered to be a powerful, supernatural being that is generally malevolent (wishing or appearing to wish evil to others) in character. The word demon comes from the Greek word daimon, which means a divine or semi-divine power that determined a person's fate. Some believe demons are angels who have fallen from grace or have chosen to take the cross over to the dark side, so to speak.
Demons are evil, supernatural beings of intelligence, wit, and immense power. They have the power to invade our homes, attach themselves to objects, and inflict torture both mentally and emotionally by attacking or even possessing the human body.
A demon possessed woman
My mother was an alcoholic and drug addict. Her substance abuse not only destroyed her life, but altered her mental state wherewith demon spirits were able to easily twist and affect her. I believe demons often spoke through her unknowingly and incited her to do acts of violence. When she couldn’t get money or cigarettes from my grandparents she would often pitch a fit and physically injured them quite badly. On two accounts she pushed my grandmother over breaking with which a major bone was broken.
CONCLUSION
All throughout the Bible Jesus taught, preached and moved in the miraculous. A vital part of Jesus' ministry was healing the sick and casting out devils. Jesus first dealt with the demonic influences in a person's life after which they were always healed (Matthew 8:16). Jesus cast out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit and thereby brought the kingdom of God to bear in a persons life (Matthew 12:28).
