You’re currently scared out of your wits. You have recently been arrested and accused of a criminal offence. Faced with possibility spending time in prison, you will have to hire a criminal defence lawyer to represent you. A criminal lawyer is an individual who specialises in help those who have been accused of a criminal offence.

Of course, if you are unable to afford your own lawyer, then one will be appointed to you as mandated by law. This lawyer that you are issued will come from the public defender’s office. Though they might not be as skilled as a private lawyer, they will still be able to give you fair representation in court.
