Defending False Accusations of Child Abuse

There is no doubt in my mind that being wrongly accused of abusing a child can be a very serious offence for child care workers, parents and educators. The sad thing is that such incidences have risen over the past few years. One of the main reasons why this has happened, is because one can get into trouble if they do not report any suspicion of child abuse, so for anyone who works with children, they are somewhat coerced into filing a report, even if the suspicions are mild.

There are cases where an accusation of child abuse is nothing more than an innocent mistake, based on the words of a child who is looking for some attention. But in other situations, it may be filed by one parent on another, in such as way as to seek revenge on them, because of an ugly divorce. Either way, if you are facing such an accusation, then it’s in your best interest to take it very serious.

A good criminal lawyer will be able to help defend you against such an accusation by preparing a defense that should result in your name being cleared. However, it is very important that the lawyer that you settle with has a lot of experience working in that area of the law. Many convictions can be attributed to a poor strategy laid out by the attorney, or an attorney who has next to no experience working with child abuse accusations.

If you are in a situation where you are trying to defend yourself against accusations of child abuse, then it’s up to you to ensure that the attorney you settle with has a good history with defending such cases and has the demonstrated ability to do so. This lawyer should go through all the steps that you will be required to take during the case, from the trial preparation, to the investigation, overall strategy and final presentation.
