Before cosmopolitan magazine experienced world wide success, the initial founders and editors (Schlicht & Field) went out of business only 2 years after the company's launch. Only after E.D. Walker, an ex editor for Harper's Monthly purchased the rights to Cosmopolitan magazine did the business really take off. He didn't settle for the old way of doing things, with an innovative sense he introduced book reviews, serial fiction, and color illustrations to the magazine.

Cape town Cosmopolitan

ronically, one of the coolest hangouts in Cape Town, is called Joburg. Even though most South Africans travel long distances without blinking twice, an invitation to party in Joburg doesn't necessarily mean booking a flight to Johannesburg.

This legendary bar-club is situated in the bustling, cosmopolitan Long Street, and attracts an extremely varied crowd – from trendy locals, grungy art students and international models to part-of-the-furniture regulars and weathered backpackers. You might even find the occasional businessman enjoying an after work drink, seamlessly blending in with the relaxed atmosphere of the place.

Cosmopolitan Dubai

Every city thrives on local culture. So does Dubai. The fact that the population is comprised of more expatriates than locals, it breathes free as a cosmopolitan society. The sudden rise, rise and rise of the towers in the country's firmament, multinational cuisine in food courts, harmless entertainment zones, cinema, subdued pub culture and modest behaviour of citizens' sum up current Dubai's status. Sure, it is happening in one part of the world but for only those who can afford its ostentatious luxury villas, secure homes and power of spending at annual shopping festivals the city organises.

CONCLUSION

In developing countries, the hope for the rapid growth of civil society is expressed by communities devising new development paradigms seeking sustainable livelihoods and pursuing various avenues that enhance local empowerment.

The hope of improved lives lived in a just and caring world is the most empowering psychological response to the turbulence of our times. Although more and more people are inclined to understand themselves as part of a common community of fate that includes all of humanity and the biosphere, they do not yet know how to take action themselves to aid the worlds deepening social, economic and environmental problems.
