Plastic surgery is all about surgical procedures that involve restoration or correction of a function or form in one’s body. Plastic is used to refer to the reshaping and remoulding of the tissues, it in no way relates to real plastic.

People who have plastic surgery carried out on themselves are typically those who are not happy with their outer appearance. You will find that people tend to have different parts of their body that they dislike, which results in them having cosmetic surgery to restore, correct or reshape a part of their body.

There are currently two different types of cosmetic surgery; invasive and non-invasive procedures. The non-invasive surgical procedures are botox, resurfacing of the skin, hair removal through laser treatment and skin filler injections. The invasive surgical procedures are facelifts, liposuction and tummy tucks.

It’s mostly women who have cosmetic procedures carried out on their body, with the most popular procedures being liposuction to remove body fat from certain areas of the body, eyelid surgery to alter the shape of the eyes, breast augmentation to reshape and life the breasts and abdominoplasty, to make the abdomen more sturdy and firm.

Instead of having just the one procedure, women will usually combine a number of procedures together. Though results tend to be better through this method, the costs and recovery time will increase. Though there is only a small number of men who actually have cosmetic surgery, their rate of recovery twice that of women.

Laser hair removal, skin filler injects for ones face and botox injections are the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures that men undergo. For men, the most common surgical procedures that they undertake are eyelid surgery, nose jobs, reduction of male breasts and liposuction.
