Colonic irrigation
Colonic irrigation is lauded by its advocates as providing relief from a number of complaints, while improving also the general health and wellbeing of the irrigation patient.
Many mainstream medical professionals, however, as opposed to the alternative practitioners who usually provide the colonic irrigations, remain less than enthused by the treatment, and claim that the procedure merely provides an expensive version of a detox that the body is more than capable of performing by itself. So is the cost of colonic irrigation really justified, or would the consumer be better off with a store bought laxative?
What colonic irrigation does
Hydrotherapy practitioners may bathe local regions with hot or cold water applied to the feet, the head, any areas where pain and inflammation are a problem.
Another ancient practice that has regained popularity is colonic hydrotherapy, or colonic irrigation, which consists of flushing the lower digestive tract with warm water. Theoretically, colon health affects the entire body, and colonics is used to relieve congestion, alleviate pain, tone body tissue, relax nerves, and enhance overall wellbeing.
Colonic irrigation safety
There is a lot of conjecture both within and outside the medical profession on the leading question: is colonic irrigation harmful? Ask any doctor and you will usually receive one of two answers. One is absolutely not and the other is usually not too clear. The reason for the indecision is that most doctors find it hard to prove that colonic irrigation is harmful and many more, especially of the younger generation will wholeheartedly endorse flushing the colon to remove the impurities that the body can build up there over a period of time.
It goes without saying that any doctor who will suggest colon cleaning as a form of treatment will do so as part of a package that includes a healthier eating pattern and possibly a more active life style. Colon cleaning can be a very positive step, but if the person who undertakes a course of colonic irrigation yet continues to eat the wrong food and leave a sedentary life style then the effects of the treatment will be minimalized.
CONCLUSION
Colon cleaning can only be a positive step in bringing the system back into line. Today the temptations of fast food is too difficult for many to overcome, and the effects of this kind of diet coupled with the generally unhealthy life style that the 21st century has bestowed upon us means that there are literally millions of people living in the Western World today who are chronically unhealthy.
