Caterpillar wheel loader

Caterpillar was looking for the perfect sized wheel loader design to get its latest product line off to a good sales start, and found it in the 944A. But the model 944A was just the tip of the iceberg as far as Caterpillar was concerned. In 1960, the company introduced two more rigid frame wheel loaders to keep the 944A company.

The model 922A was slightly smaller, carrying a 1 1/4-cubic-yard bucket. The other model, the 966A was larger than the 944A. It was equipped with a 2 3/4-cubic-yard bucket. All three of these loaders were sized for general contracting work. Big quarry and mining wheel loaders they were not. But Caterpillar was taking a cautious approach to this new market. The limited number of model types fielded in the first few years allowed the company time to gain market share.

Caterpillar story

The renowned French Naturalist, Jean-Henri Fabre, in an experiment with processionary caterpillars was able to entice them on to the rim of a large flowerpot. Processionary caterpillars move through the forest in a long procession feeding on pine needles. They derive their name from their habit of following a lead caterpillar, each with its eyes half closed and head fitted snugly against the rear end of the preceding caterpillar.

Caterpillar food

The caterpillar eats a different food or foods on each day of the week, so your child can learn the days of the week and the names of the different food items. On the first five days, the caterpillar eats increasing amounts of fruit (one apple, two pears etc) so your child will be able to count as well. The fruit pages also have holes to show where the caterpillar has eaten; the picture on the other side shows the caterpillar emerging from the piece of fruit. Children will also learn how a caterpillar changes: starting small, growing larger, building a cocoon and emerging.

CONCLUSION

How does such a theory relate to Caterpillar? Simply put, corporations like Caterpillar, since their nature is cyclical, and inventory restrictions may deprive them of future sales, should have shares fall during times of recession or when commodity prices decrease. However, when analyzing this company relative to technical factors, during recent recession points, Caterpillar has not faired that terribly. Since the early 1990s, shares of Caterpillar have steady increased about 700%. During times of strong economic growth and prosperity, Caterpillar shares tend to skyrocket with accommodating high commodity prices.
