Qualifications required to work as an accountant
An accountant must have a bachelor’s degree. Most accountants will have degrees in management, finance, computer science and economics. Other accountants may have a degree in other areas such as economics, finance or computer science along with a master’s degree in accounting. These people also tend to go on to achieve one or two certifications in this area of expertise. Most of those who go on to work as accountant will be a (CPA) Certified Public Accountant.
Responsibilities of an accountant
The responsibilities of an accountant will vary depending on the field that he or she is working in, such as governmental, public or managerial. The economic will be tasked with recording, examining and auditing the financial records of individuals, businesses, non-profit organisations and government agencies. The job of the accountant entails preparing tax returns and financial statements. A public accountant will work for a public firm. These responsibilities will be to prepare financial analysis, financial statements and tax duties. These services will be provided to individuals, private business, public firms, non-profit organisations and government agencies by the accountant. The accountant’s duties also include external auditors, visitors and tax.
A management accountant’s responsibility is to work for both public and private companies. The accountant will assist the company in reaching its goals by performing performance evaluations, asset management, cost management and budgeting.
