Carbon fibre bike
Frame tubes are oval rather than round and the wheels may have fewer spokes or even be carbon fibre tri spokes or discs. Tri bikes are very similar to time trial bikes.
This is just a general view of the more obvious equipment required to compete in a triathlon. Of course, to begin, you don't need the most expensive bike with the carbon fibre frame or to have your brake and chain cables running inside the tubing, these modifications are for a later date when you too have become obsessed with shaving seconds of PBs.

Wild claims and high prices abound the Sony VAIO TX series of ultraportable laptops. With a screen size of 11.1 inches and with such high-end features as a carbon fibre chassis, weighing in at a nearly undetectectably 2.7 pounds and a battery life of upto 7.5hr per charge, its no surprise that the VAIO TX series comes in at the most expensive of all, with prices starting at €1,999.
Carbon fibre explained
Carbon fiber or carbon fibre (also sometimes called graphite fiber) is a material consisting of long thin sheets of graphite -like carbon, packed to form a fiber. It is commonly used in composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (which is often also called carbon fiber).
It has the highest specific tensile strength of all the reinforced materials (Composite materials) ), and it has a high strength to weight ratio and low coefficient of thermal expansion. The density of carbon fiber is also much lower than the density of steel. Carbon fiber takes the form of several thousand long, thin strands of material which are mostly composed of carbon atoms.
CONCLUSION
Carbon fibres are very expensive and can give galvanic corrosion in contact with metals.
They are generally used together with epoxy, where high strength and stiffness are required, i.e. race cars, automotive and space applications, sport equipment. Carbon fibres are produced by the PAN or the pitch methods. The PAN method separates a chain of carbon atoms from polyacrylnitrile (PAN) through heating and oxidation. Pitch method pulls out graphite threads through a nozzle from hot fluid pitch.
