Introduction to bungee jumping
Is the sport that originated from New Zealand and was created by daredevil A J Hackett, and his original jump from a bridge in Greenhithe, Auckland. The sport involves jumping from a tall height while connected to a large rubber cord.
The tall height is usually a fixed object, such as a building, bridge, or crane; but it is also possible to bungee jump from a moving object, such as a hot-air-balloon or a helicopter, that has the ability to Hover over one spot on the ground; fixed-wing aircraft are clearly unsuitable because they only stay aloft when moving rapidly forward. The intense thrill comes as much from the free-falls as from the rebounds.
What to consider before bungee jumping
Bungee jumping is an ill-advised sport for the faint hearted. You might be surprised that though a lot of people take the initiative to try it out, most back down just before the jump. Free falling from a really high place with gravity working against you is one of the scenarios most people consider to be their worst nightmare. But if can overcome your fear enough to take that first jump, you will find that bungee jumping is one of the most adrenalin heightening extreme sports you may come across. Once you get a taste of that rush of adrenalin you will find yourself coming back for more, like a lot of people do.
Preparing for the bungee jumping
Bungee jumping is the easiest of all extreme sports. You do not need any special knowledge or equipment to execute a jump. All you need is the nerves to jump off from a high elevation with nothing but a cord attached to your ankle. Usually bungee jumping operators are trained professionals who have the knowledge to help you through. They have done the math to ensure that the cord is just right for you and they will give you a brief talk about the bungee jump. You end up signing a disclaimer and acknowledge that you have no known medical condition that would stop you from doing it. They record your weight and height after which they tie the appropriate length of cord to your body by way of a harness.
The Saftey measures for Bungee Jumping
Bungee Jumping Harnesses are of two types. One is an ankle harness and the other is body harness. Usually you will have both. The body harness is just a backup and you can be sure that the actual bungee jump and the bounces will be by way of an ankle harness. The body harness will be used to either pull you up or lower you to the ground. If you do bungee jumping without the ankle harness and just with the body harness, the stress on your ankles and legs is less.
CONCLUSION
Before Taking part in a Bungee jump you should really consider that you want to do it. Although it is totally safe it may not be for every body.
