Antiseptic mouthwash

Some antiseptic mouthwash may also lead to dry mouth, because of the high alcohol content of some mouthwash products. An antiseptic mouthwash kills bacteria and can also freshen the breath. Antiseptic mouthwashes are used before and after surgery to remove bacteria and prevent infections. Bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth is also a warning sign for gum disease. Patients with poorly fitting crowns and bridges might have a buildup of bacteria and plaque that causes bad breath.

Honey Antiseptic

Besides being a good remedy for respiratory problems, Eucalyptus honey is a good antiseptic owing to its germicidal properties. On its exposure to air, ozone is formed which is a well-known antiseptic. Hence Eucalyptus honey is used for healing wounds, ulcers, burns, cuts, abrasions and sores. It is also effective on insect bites and stings.

Basil (Osimum basilicum) Antiseptic

Properties - Antiseptic, decongestant, warming.

Good For - Effective with headaches and migraines. Antiseptic to the respiratory tract and used for sinus congestion, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and influenza. Restores sense of smell due to catarrh. Also antiseptic to digestive and urinary tracts, and therefore finds application with digestive disorders, vomiting, gastric spasm, nausea, and dyspepsia. Useful with deep massage to ease muscular pain and spasm and to stimulate blood flow.

Chamomile Antiseptic

Chamomile is an aromatherapy oil that is relaxing and soothing. It has a sweet fruity scent and it combines nicely with lavender, geranium, and bergamot. Its properties are antiseptic, analgesic, antibacterial, and a digestive stimulant. Use it for acne, blister, boils, colitis, depression, got, headaches, IBS, neuralgia, nervous tension, and rheumatism.

CONCLUSION

An antiseptic is a substance which inhibits the growth and development of microorganisms. For practical purposes, antiseptics are routinely thought of as topical agents, for application to skin, mucous membranes, and inanimate objects, although a formal definition includes agents which are used internally, such as the urinary tract antiseptics.
